Michael Cooper (1997 Vintage) says
The 1994-96 vintages of this Hawke's Bay wine were all rewarding, but the 1997 is easily the best yet. Estate-grown at Mangatahi, it was fully fermented in French oak casks (25 per cent new) and aged sur lie (on its yeast lees) for nine months. It's a fleshy, soft, deliciously easy-drinking wine with excellent depth of lush peach, lemon and melon flavours, considerable complexity, balanced acidity and a very persistent finish
