The debut 2000 vintage was estate-grown at Mangatahi, in Hawke's Bay, and matured for 15 months in French oak casks. Full but not dense in colour, with the slightly leafy aromas of cool-climate Cabernet Sauvignon, it's a full-bodied, mellow, well-rounded wine, already highly approachable, with strong blackcurrant and plum flavours, some green, herbal notes and savoury, spicy complexities.
