Kilikanoon Killerman's Run Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Who loves a blockbuster South Australian Shiraz? Well look no further than this top notch Shiraz from Clare Valley's leading winery. It is luscious and drop dead gorgeous rippling with layers of ripe blackberry fruit matched with some sweet oak. It is an Ironman of a Shiraz that is almost too good to be true.

Winemaker's Notes

Intense brick red in colour with youthful crimson hues. Ripe, bold and lifted shiraz flavours predominate the nose with rich plum fruits and mocha supported by the French and American oak. A sweet and mild palate, soft tannins and warmth of character have created a wine with both power and finesse. This wine was made to showcase the unique flavours of shiraz, the palate tends to be fruit driven but balanced and lengthened by older oak flavours.

Kilikanoon Killerman's Run Shiraz

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Bright crimson-purple; the palate is crammed to the gills with the luscious black and red fruits promised by the bouquet, expertly executed oak and tannin management the icing on the cake. Its value for money is a reflection of the quality of the two Kilikanoon tiers of super-premium wines above it.

Australian Wine Companion 2014 Edition
James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Deep crimson, purple hue; when first tasted in January the wine had a highly expressive and fragrant bouquet, the sweet-fruited medium bodied palate warm, generous and fresh, finding a balance between ripeness and savoury complexity. It has flourished since then, the underlying freshness now even more evident.

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
Deep colour here. This is a hearty, knockabout red that delivers bright, supple mixed berry fruit flavours amid soft, sweeping tannins - good balance and plenty of flesh here.

Nick Stock (2007 Vintage) says
Nice richness and ripeness on the nose here -dark fruits and some gentle spice, fruit forward and appealing. The oak is serving the cause without intruding, allowing supple tannins and a ball of dense, dark berry and purple fruit flavour to take centre stage. Nice, drinkable balance and smooth texture.
The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2010 2009
James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Vibrant hue; blackberry, ironstone and tar on the bouquet, with shades of lighter red fruit; thickly textured, amply supported by lively acidity and plentiful tannin; fruitful long and harmonious. Great value.
Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Medium-bodied, with all the components in balance; ripe plum fruit, with a dab of dark chocolate; oak and tannins sufficient for the task; good value.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Strong, full purple-red; lush, round, mouthfilling plum, prune and blackberry extract; just gets away with the alcohol and extraction.
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Deep red-purple; medium- to full-bodied, a luscious, round, mouthfilling array of black fruits; controlled tannin and oak, and alcohol doesn't intrude. Fruit bomb, but a good one.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Strong colour; medium- to full-bodied black chocolate, spice, dark plum and blackberry fruit; good tannin and oak support.
