Cracka Review

A cool and mostly dry 2012 vintage at the Pearce Road vineyard was one that perfectly suited our French oak fermented Semillon. One hundred percent barrel fermentation and maturation for six months in new and one year old French oak barrels has complemented and enhanced the fresh varietal vineyard characteristics of the Semillon grape; citrus and cut grass. Twice weekly battonage (lees stirring) has added to the wines complexity and creamy palate structure.

Appearance: Pale straw, brilliant clarity and appearance.

Nose: Elevated aromas of fresh lemons, cut grass and fine creamy French oak spices dominate the nose.

Palate: Delicate flavours of lemons, creamy oak nuances and fine natural acid zing complement the beautifully structured palate. Twice weekly lees stirring has further enhanced the wines complexity and aging potential.

Cellaring: Ten to 12 years with careful cellaring.

Alcohol: 12.5%

Kilikanoon Pearce Road Semillon

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2012 Vintage) says
Artfully made and finely balanced, with a floral and lightly herbal bouquet of retrained melon and gooseberry fruit backed by fresh vanilla oak and dusty, apple-like notes. It's smooth and creamy, with a rich presence of lively fruit tightly knit with smoky vanilla oak, extending long and round along a fine, pithy backbone towards a refreshing finish of tangy, lemony acidity.
