It's back! Kilikanoon's rockin' Lackey Shiraz has (re)entered the building, and this time we've gone back in time to scoop up some of the 2008 vintage! Now a mature release, this is just the sort of big, bold and beefy South Aussie Shiraz the Kilikanoon are know for, softened out to make something round and very easygoing.

Winemaker's Notes

Exuberantly structured, the Kilikanoon Shiraz unleashes generous blackberry and black cherry flavors that are remarkably fresh-tasting. Accented with notes of menthol and tangerine zest, the wine is big and bold yet beautifully balanced.

Plush, inviting scents of sun-warmed blackberries mingle with aromas of bay leaves and freshly ground black pepper.

The combination of ripe fruit and food-friendly acidity makes the Kilikanoon Shiraz a great wine for a casual dinner party. Approachable enough to please those who like fruit-forward wine, it can also stand up to robust dishes and has enough "real Shiraz character" to please purist fans of the varietal. Shiraz and lamb are a classic combination, both in Australia and in France's Rhône Valley, where the grape is known as Syrah. Pork and beef will make great choices, too. Look to accompaniments that play to the wine's fruity side, such as chutney, or highlight the Shiraz's herbaceous notes with sage, thyme or tarragon. Aged blue cheese makes a great textural and flavour match; try the Kilikanoon Shiraz with steaks and a blue cheese sauce, or a blue cheese and chutney croque monsieur.

Serve a little cooler than room temperature: refrigerate the bottle for 10 minutes before serving.
