Kingsley Estate Gimblett Gravels Syrah

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
Due to devastating frosts, the classy 2001 vintage was not grown organically at the estate vineyard, but based on grapes from three other vineyards in the Gimblett Gravels area of Hawke's Bay. A blend of Syrah (76 per cent), Cabernet Sauvignon (12 per cent) and Malbec (12 per cent), it was matured in French oak barriques (45 per cent new). Densely coloured, with buckets of sweet fruit, strong blackcurrant and spice flavours and a rich finish, it's a complex wine that should age well, but is already highly satisfying.
