Krug champagne has always been at the dizzying end of the price scale, but it is one of the most revered. In true Krug style, this is a rich beasty of a champagne shows lots of roasted cashews, melted honey and dried stone fruits on the nose, with whiffs of ripe pears and smokiness. The palate is rich and harmonious, with lots of toasty and savoury flavours, licks of baked apples and honey, and a long, power-packed finish with some citrusy acidity refreshing the finish.

You may even taste hints of apples still on the tree, flowers in bloom, ripe and dried fruit, almonds, marzipan, gingerbread, sweet spices and even brioche and honey.
