Cracka Review

If you can get your mouth round pronouncing the tongue twister that is the Seven Sleepers Siebenschlafer, then you deserve a glass of this rich blend from Barossa legends Kurtz Family Vineyards. It’s a mongrel blend that works harmoniously thanks to some of the best fruit of the estate being used. Expect a multi-layered wine with black cherry and spice aromas before a sweet palate that’s juxtaposed with savoury elements. Needs food to show its real potential.

Winemaker's Notes

Nose: A fruit driven wine that is dominated by the berry fruit characteristics of Cabernet Sauvignon on the nose.

Palate: A layer of chocolate is gained from the addition of Shiraz and sweetness of Petit Verdot is apparent on the palate. This wine is not over powered by oak, allowing the fruit to show its full potential. Firm tannins give the wine a lingering finish.

Food: This is a non traditional red blend from the Barossa Valley offering a chance to match fine spicy food with fine Barossa red wine.

Cellaring: A rich combination of flavours that is ideally suited to current consumption, but the wine will also improve with further careful cellaring.

Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Petit Verdot (30%), Shiraz (15%) and Malbec (10%).
