James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Excellent, full purple-crimson; hand-plunged and basket-pressed, 'followed by grooming in oak for 18 months'. That's a new concept, but this is a very good, medium-bodied wine, with black fruits, a hint of dark chocolate, and of licorice, and high-quality tannins framing the finish.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Bright colour; oak is the dominant character, with bitter chocolate, fruitcake and ample sweet fruit; fleshy and again showing plenty of oak on the palate, time will see integration in this full-fruited and full-flavoured wine.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
While fall-bodied, manages to retain life and thrust to the palate; the flavours range through blackberry, cherry, plum and chocolate, with the support of spicy oak. Ratty

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Super-rich, multi-layered, ultra-typical expression of terroir; blackberry, plum, prune and dark chocolate; tannins and oak an afterthought.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
An array of black and red fruits, licorice and dark chocolate on both bouquet and palate; finishes with spicy/savoury tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Medium- to full-bodied, and carries the alcohol quite well; plum, chocolate, spice and mocha flavours; good length, ripe tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Scented, spicy oak aromatics; medium-bodied; very good mouthfeel and length; blackberry, plum and some spice.
