Laibach LadyBird Organic Red

Cracka Review

Laibach proudly presents our South African Ladybird Red 2012. This is our 9th release of this very popular wine. The vintage 2012 was very small for us but the quality was again outstanding. It is great working in an outstanding area with such a great climate to produce consistent organically grown wine.

We do not have a fixed recipe for anything at Laibach and we just let nature do the basics for us. Every year we also experiment with a few new things to enhance the colour, flavour and tannin structure of the wines. During 2012 we had very small berries and tannin management was critical in producing something that will be more approachable but in the same time have enough depth and character to last 5 – 8 years after the vintage.

Appearance: Beautiful, dark red colour.

Nose: An amazing bouquet with hints of violets, crushed berries and cedar wood.

Palate: On the palate, oodles of black berry, some leather and spice. Great freshness on the palate with the fruit well supported by just a hint of French oak. Medium bodied, with juicy tannins and an enjoyable dry finish.

Cellaring: A wine for any occasion, with very good complexity, purity and enough structure to keep 3 to 6 years after bottling.

Alcohol: 13.5%

Grape Variety: 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8%Cabernet Franc, 41%Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, 9% Malbec.
