Lake Chalice Oak Aged Sauvignon Blanc

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1999 Vintage) says
In the past labelled as Platinum Sauvignon Blanc, this is typically a rather Chardonnay-like Marlborough wine, mouthfilling and powerful, with some complexity and fruit characters restrained by oak and 'malo' influences. Two-thirds of the 1999 vintage was fermented and matured on its yeast lees in American oak casks; the rest was handled in tanks. The bouquet is nettley and nutty; the palate full-bodied, ripe and flavoursome, with complexity and a rounded finish. It's arguably over-wooded, but works well with food (rather than as an aperitif) and draws you back for a second glass....
