Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
The 2001 vintage of this Marlborough red was estate-grown in the Falcon vineyard and matured for a year in French and American oak casks. Still very youthful, it's a full-coloured, fresh, crisp wine with strong blackcurrant and red berry flavours, a hint of mint and firm tannins.

Michael Cooper (1999 Vintage) says
The 1998 vintage of this Marlborough red is richly coloured and vibrantly fruity, with excellent depth of blackcurrant and plum flavours, slightly chocolatey and spicy, and mouthfilling body. The 1999 has a herbal edge, typical of cool-climate Cabernet Sauvignon, but shows impressive depth of colour and flavour. Estate-grown in the Rapaura district and French and American oak-aged, it offers strong cassis, plum and spice characters, oak complexity and good cellaring potential.

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; the bouquet is clean, with earthy cabernet fruit, not as luscious as some of the wines from this vintage, but there is more red berry fruit, allied with a touch of chocolate and charry oak, on the palate. The tannins are a fraction dry, but should soften with bottle age.

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
Tasted soon after bottling, the 1998 vintage of this Marlborough red looked excellent. Richly coloured and vibrantly fruity, it reveals excellent depth of blackcurrant and plum flavours, slightly chocolatey and spicy, and mouthfilling body. A powerful, rich and smooth wine with Marlborough freshness, it needs a bit more time; open 2001.
