Lawson's Dry Hills Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

If you like your savvys crammed full of passionfruit and assorted tropicals, you've come to the right place! This is a rich, highly fruity number that is almost too intense for its own good, with an abundance of passionfruit, yellow citrus, guava and lime on the nose that faithfully translates to the concentrated flavours on the palate. It's all wrapped up in zippy acidity leading to a lingering, dry, tropical fruit cocktail finish. Excellent with Thai-inspired fishcakes or some tempura prawns.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine combines big ripe aromatics with a serious palate that displays complexity and great texture. Passion fruit, paw paw and lime aromas leap from the glass. These flavours follow through on the palate, together with a chalky texture and a complex, crisp, grassy finish. Enjoy in moderation with the fresh clean flavours of Japanese food, fresh raw oysters or cooked fish with a lemon sauce. Cellar for three to five years.

To produce this reserve wine we blended the two most aromatic Sauvignon Blanc tanks from the 2014 vintage. We seassoned it with the addition of a barrel of barrique fermented wine. The wine making itself was straight forward - Great fruit, harvested at optimal flavours and in perfect condition. The free run juice was fermented at cool temperatures with aromatic yeast strains, post fermentation the wine was allowed to rest on the yeast lees for three months before final blending and bottling.

Lawson's Dry Hills Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

Raymond Chan (2012 Vintage) says
Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. This has a very powerful and tightly concentrated nose of pungent passionfruit along with lifted, ripe tropical fruit aromas and fine, cutting, minerally notes. Dry to taste, densely packed flavours of passionfruit, fresh herbs and limes form a concentrated core with a very refined palate line. Very smooth and near seamless in texture, the acidity harmoniously underlines the flavours and adds to the drive. This has an elegance of proportion to the concentration which carries though to a finish that is very long and lingering, showing lush passionfruit and minerally elements. This is a concentrated and fine textured Sauvignon Blanc packed with passionfruit flavours. Serve with seafood, poultry, and goats cheese over the next 2-3 years.
