Leabrook Estate Cabernet Franc

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Light red-purple; has clear varietal character with its mix of tobacco leaf, spice, red fruit aromas and flavours; the tannins are fine, the oak integrated, and the wine has very good balance and length. A rare beast in the Australian wine landscape.

Nick Stock (2006 Vintage) says
A nicely ripened, even and fragrant style; this looks at home up in the Adelaide Hills with leaves and brambly forest berries, a nice slice of oak here too. A gently spicy palate rolled out on elegant, fine-knit tannins and a satisfying, balanced finish.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Tobacco leaf and dark berry mix in a light- to medium-bodied frame; a spare wine in fruit terms, but with good structure, balance and length. Give it time. A quality variety outside of WA (and, of course, in France's Loire Valley).
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Medium red; cedar, tobacco, leaf, spice, earth and berry all come through on the medium-bodied palate; distinctly savoury, yet neither green nor bitter.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Light to medium-bodied; scented red cherry, tobacco leaf and spice varietal fruit; very fine tannins; has more length than anticipated; creeps up on you.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Aromatic and scented; light to medium-bodied; vibrant spicy/tangy fruit and persistent finish and aftertaste; gossamer tannins. Reminiscent of Chinon.
