Leaning Church Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
Leaning Church out of Tassie describe their savvy blancs as "mindblowing as your first morning glory, or a squirrel grip after a vasectomy" - so how could we refuse! It's certainly a bright, zesty number, with smells and flavours of tropical fruits, lemons, and a touch of herbaceousness. It's all supported by racy acidity and a crisp finish that will see it match well with some garlic prawns.
Our Sauvignon Blanc vines are located in the coolest part of the vineyard and take the longest time to ripen. Our previous vintages have been described as: “fresh, aromatic (but not overly herbaceous) with a citrus, passionfruit nose and palate leading to a crisp, clean refreshing, lingering finish”. James Halliday and Huon Hooke awarded our 2010 Sauvignon Blanc the only gold SB medal – and then a trophy – at the 2010 Tasmanian Wine Show. Our 2013 SB has just been bottled and is by far the closest to our 2010 vintage – lively, hints of kiwi fruit, tinges of green and truly unique! 100% estate grown. James Halliday has consistently awarded our Sauvignon Blanc 91-94 points.
