Tyson Stelzer (2010 Vintage) says
I have been a great admirer of the evolution toward refinement of Leeuwin Estate Art Series Margaret River Cabernet over the past five years, and 2010 is the pinnacle, the greatest red wine I have yet tasted from this revered estate. Sourced from vines 34 years of age and matured in 50% new French oak, this is a Margaret River cabernet of depth and definition, within an effortlessly medium-bodied frame. Great density of dark blackcurrant fruit and hints of bay leaf savouriness open into violet perfume. It’s seamless and crafted, with finely textural yet firmly confident tannins interlacing with vibrant acid, drawing the finish out long, bright and determined. September 2014 release.

The Leeuwin cabernets are finally starting to sing with greater consistency and resonance as the work that has been done in the vineyard and winery pays dividends. This is a beauty, and an excellent follow-up to the terrific 2008. Blackcurrant aromas, with a dusty, cedars overlay of oak, dark plums and light leaf. The palate is seamless and balanced, with a silky texture created by supple tannins and fine-grained oak.

The new era of Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernets is an exciting one in which classy fruit contrasts crunchy vibrancy and deep black-fruited concentration. Well integrated tannins make for immediate approachability while promising great longevity.

Vivid deep crimson; restrained and understated, the bouquet offers a tantalising glimpse of red and black fruits, cigar box and a little briary complexity; the palate is finely detailed, and while elegant, contains its inherent power and longevity with ease.

Intense aromas of black currant and leafy floral nots merge on the bouquet. On the palate it stacks together a powerful storm of oak and tannin but delivered with an effortless ease that caries to a long controlled and persistent finish. Dry assertive tannins and fine grained oak drive the finish.

Powerful and elegant cooler climate statement of Margaret River cabernet, This one is full ripe from this warmer season, translating into ripe firm tannins and rich concentrated dark plum and black berry fruit characters. The balance is super. Clearly marks the emergence of Leeuwin is a serious challenger in the cabernet stakes after some years of inconsistency.
The West Australian Wine Guide
Tyson Stelzer (2007 Vintage) says
“This is the wine that will put Art Series Cabernet on the map for the first time. Harvested early to capture definition, it rings with every hallmark of Margaret River cabernet that would be expected from more famous labels, with a core of ripe blackcurrant fruit and firmly poised tannins. “

2017 - 2027
Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
The best Leeuwin Estate cabernet yet released has a smoky, cedary bouquet of subdued dark plum, berry, violet and cassis-like aroma that takes plenty of time to unfold, becoming quite heady in the process. It's long, smooth and polished, with handsomely ripened flavours of plums, berries and assertive, polished vanilla oak underpinned by firm, astringent tannin. The slightly baked characters that unravel shortly after opening do tend to dissipate with time in the glass, and this wine should cellar with some distinction.
Australian Wine Annual 2010 2009
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
An incredibly fresh and vibrant bouquet of red fruit, intermingled with cassis, oak and a little fresh herb edge; the palate is very fleshy on entry, and tightens up on the long, ample and lively finish; good fruit sweetness, and the structure suggests a long and healthy life ahead.

Campbell Mattinson (2004 Vintage) says
Leeuwin is renowned for its chardonnay but its cabernet has often been disappointing - despite Margaret River being a grand place to grow cabernet sauvignon. 2004 RELEASE I can't recall a better Leeuwin cabernet. This is balanced, fresh and lively, its elegant flavours of gravel, blackcurrant, cranberry and dried herbs matched beautifully to ripe tannins and clear, spicy, cedary French oak. It leaves a flavour of dry chocolate in your mouth after you've swallowed too. DRINK 2008-2012.
The Big Red Wine Book 2008
Ray Jordan (2004 Vintage) says
This is the best Leeuwin Cabernet released to this stage. The good thing is that results of a rejuvenation of this variety that started several years will continue to be seen. A powerful, linear wine of structure and style with ripe, pure Cabernet fruit displaying lovely blackcurrant and subtle leafiness. Due out in May or April 2009.
