A deep purple, peppery, fragrant Shiraz. Plenty of ripe mixed berry aromas and spicy, meaty oak. Laid on juicy tannins and lit with crunchy acid, mid-weight at most, finishing bright and fresh.

Convincing crimson-purple; a complex and textured wine, with spice, pepper and savoury overtones to bouquet and medium-bodied palate alike; fine, persistent tannins offset against black cherry and blackberry fruit provide balance.

A rather exciting shiraz from this region. The opening play of savoury plum and spices is immediately engaging. On the palate you get soft generous fruit delivered with so much poise. The tannins are silky fine but firm and support what is a very good wine. Love the mix of chocolate, coffee and spices.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2008 Vintage) says
Lenton Brae flies under the radar a bit - but the wines are invariably good (and dare we mention it here, but the whites are excellent too). Tasted as a (too) young wine and it looked quite raw, but full of promise. There's no doubt it's a very good wine. It's a spicy, foresty, undergrowthy shiraz with solid support from bright, blueberried, dark cherry-like fruit flavour. Immediate appeal and more contemplative character _ like the thinking drinker's sex symbol. Excellent texture and tannin too.

Bright hue; fresh, fragrant, spicy red berry aromas flow through to a lively medium-bodied palate; good length.
