Expert Reviews

Angus Hughson (2008 Vintage) says
While plenty have come and gone one Riesling brand has really stood the test of time, and that is, of course, Leo Buring Leonay. Despite the difficult 2007 vintage, Buring produced perhaps the wine of the vintage and the 2008 version is even better. It takes youthful to a new level with terrifically focussed fruit that takes over 24 hours to really start to open up. At the moment it is all tightly bound mineral, citrus, and foral notes on a linear and quite closed palate that shows tremendous length and balance. But everything is there for this to really go the distance so don't even think of opening it up for 5 years or more
