Lerida Estate Pinot Rosé

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

It would seem that every winemaker worth his or her salt is making a Rosé these days and this bone dry, savoury example is spearheading the rose renaissance. It’s a blend of Pinot Noir and Shiraz so it exhibits bright berry fruit and floral hints with just the right amount of seductive spice. It’s just right with food too offering up a textural mouthfeel and a mouthwatering moreishness. Perfect with Indian or Moroccan dishes of medium heat.

Winemaker's Notes

The colour is crystalline pink like a pale Argyle diamond. A cool summers in 2011 produced wines with lovely red fruit aromas, with an intriguing floral overlay. Imagine red cherries and wild raspberries in a basket of roses and violets. The wine has pronounced mineral notes, unusual for a Rosé. With tight natural acids, the effect is remarkably refreshing and crisp. Low alcohol, 11.7%, helps set a new benchmark for the style.

Food Matches - This wine combines successfully with Bouillabaisse, antipasto, pizza, spicy Asian food and Oysters Kilpatrick.

Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
A fragrant cool-climate pinot rosé from this quality producer, light and bright red in the glass, it smells of mixed fresh red berries and red rose floral perfume. The palate has a gentle lick of sweetness, really enhancing bright red fruit flavour - there's enough acid to bring it home on point. Great drink.
