Les Jamelles Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

There are a lot more freely available imports available these days and it’s Cracka’s job to filter out the best, some are expensive but others are veritable bargains. In our search for cracking Cabernet we came across this wine from the Languedoc. It’s a fruity, medium bodied version made for immediate drinking so it might just be the best thing to pair with light lamb dishes. Expect a red wine that’s full of cherry and cedar flavours and a well-balanced finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Lovely deep red colour.

Nose: Aromas of red fruits (blackcurrants, strawberries) together with a light fresh vegetal note (green peppers, very characteristic of Cabernet) and spicy scents (cinnamon, mint, honey). Subtle woody notes on the finish (cedar, oak, walnuts).

Palate: This is an elegant, complex wine that is long and velvety on the palate. The tannins are well-balanced. There are no herbaceous aromas.

Les Jamelles Cabernet Sauvignon

Expert Reviews

Tyson Stelzer (2011 Vintage) says
Laurent Delaunay visited me from the south of France recently, flying the flag for an exciting new range of wines (more on these in the coming weeks). His entry cabernet took my fancy, reflecting a strong vintage in this part of the world. The result is unashamedly medium-bodied and refreshing, an impressively textural cabernet of approachable appeal and balanced structure, presenting accurate, varietal blackcurrant definition, with notes of dried herbs, dark chocolate and fine, graphite-like tannins.
