Lethbridge Allegra Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2007 Vintage) says
Developed and toasty, with quite a reductive bouquet of lemon, minerals and burned matchstick backed by nutty, waxy and hessian-like nuances. It's mineral but a little metallic, with a burnished palate of honeyed, buttery and rather angular fruit that finishes moderately long and briney but also with an awkward meaty rawness. Just lacks the depth of fruit for its full-on treatment.

Angus Hughson (2007 Vintage) says
For all the Lethbridge wines, fruit complexity is what lifts them above most of their contemporaries. But it is not simple, sweet fruit complexity; rather these wines show fascinating flavour profiles - hazelnut, marzipan, biscuit and honey are just some of the elements found in this Chardonnay. Fine focused aromas of nut, barrel ferment and citrus broaden out on a creamy palate that is both fleshy and fresh. The wine finishes long with the fruit complexity evolving along the length of the palate - a seriously impressive modern Australian Chardonnay that won Best Wine of Show at the 2008 Geelong Wine Show
