Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2007 Vintage) says
Pernod Ricard NZ's bottle-fermented rose is blended from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Pinotage, grown in Marlborough, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay. It is typically pink, with strawberryish, moderately yeasty aromas and flavours, fresh and lively, and a crisp, gently sweet (16 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. The wine 1 tasted in mid 2007 had a pink/onion skin hue and plenty of strawberryish, fairly yeasty, crisp and lively flavour.

Some funky floral/strawberry aromas and soft strawberry flavours with piercing acidity and nice yeasty characters.

Michael Cooper says
Vivacious and full-flavoured, this is a very skilfully made sparkling rose, bargain-priced. A bottle fermented blend of Pinot Noir (60 per cent), Chardonnay (20 per cent) and Chenin Blanc (20 per cent), grown in Gisborne, Hawke's Bay and Marlborough, it is pink-hued, with lots of fresh, lively, raspberryish, yeasty, smooth flavour, good complexity and length. A top buy.
