Lindemans Steven Vineyard Hunter Shiraz

Cracka Review

Colour: Deep crimson red. Complex earthy aromas with hints of licorice and spicy characters, typical of the Hunter Valley.

Nose: The nose has integrated savory oak overtones.

Palate: Medium bodied with elegant plummy, chocolate and leathery flavors. The overall balance is excellent with fine-grained tannins combined to help create a long, lingering finish. This wine can be consumed upon release however it will continue to gain extra complexity with short to medium term cellaring. Ideally suited to beef, duck and game, lamb.

James Halliday (1996 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; the soft, leathery/earthy fruit aromas are regional, but not aggressively or unpleasantly so. An attractive wine on the palate with good fruit weight and a supple, silky texture, subtle oak and a long finish.

James Halliday (1994 Vintage) says
Reserve Bin 8625. Light to medium red-purple; a clean bouquet with light, earthy/cherry fruit and prominent vanilla oak. The palate is pleasant, but the oak is dominant, and I really wonder whether the wine will ever come back into balance.
