Linden Estate Reserve Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1997 Vintage) says
Biscuity and mealy, rather than overtly fruity, the 1997 vintage is Linden's first reserve Chardonnay to be based entirely on fruit grown in the Esk Valley. Whole-bunch pressed, fully barrel-fermented (30 per cent new) and given a full malolactic fermentation, it's a slightly austere wine, with the strong "malo" influence subduing its fruit characters in a rather French style. It is overshadowed by the 1996 a deliciously plump wine with rich, citrusy, savoury, buttery flavours and a soft, long finish.
