Good colour and depth to the fruit; fruitcake aromas dominate, with some lively blackberry fruit to complement; warm and chocolatey on the finish.

Big, brooding nose - all inky and earthy - leading to a very flavoursome juby fruit and coffee oak palate.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Has the generous soft fruit markers of the '05 vintage, with spicy plum/plum cake flavours, soft tannins and good overall balance.

More advanced chocolaty sweet porty commercial style. Excellent flavour depth, with warming alcohol.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2005 Vintage) says
Satisfying drop that won't die wondering. Full-bodied but mellow, with attractive flavours of sweet blackberry, earth and coal. Light doses of coffeed, toasty oak too. Juicy and fresh through the finish. Not a lot of tannin but then, that just makes it all the easier to drink. It doesn't even really need food - you can drink this by itself.
