Michael Cooper (1997 Vintage) says
Chris Lintz makes burly, flavour-crammed Martinborough reds. Highly attractive now, the 1997 vintage is a blend of the two Cabernets (40 per cent Sauvignon and 40 per cent Franc) with 20 per cent Merlot. Finely balanced, it's soft, fruity and full-bodied, with rich blackcurrant/plum flavours and savoury, nutty complexities in a very generous, easy-drinking and harmonious style.

Medium red-purple; a complex bouquet, showing quite ripe fruit with some gamey/earthy notes. There are very interesting flavours on the palate with red berry fruits softened by distinct gamey barnyard characters which are far from unpleasant. Persistent tannins run through the palate, all in all reflecting an extremely low yield of less than a tonne per acre and unusual levels of ripeness.
