Lombardi Merlot Cabernet

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
Labelled "Cabernet", the easy-drinking 1997 vintage is an honest Hawke's Bay red with soft tannins and plenty of slightly herbaceous, blackcurrant/plum flavour. Already attractive, the estate-grown 1998 vintage is full of sweet-fruit delights. An equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, matured in one-year-old French oak barriques, it has vivid purple-red colour and very good depth of blackcurrant and red berry flavours. Warm, spicy and gently oaked, it's a mouthfilling, silky-smooth wine, worth holding to around 2001
