Longridge of Hawke's Bay Cabernet Merlot

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1996 Vintage) says
This typically solid Hawke's Bay red from Corbans is matured in French and American oak casks, the American wood giving a noticeably sweet, aromatic perfume to the bouquet. The very plain 1996 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50 per cent), Merlot (40 per cent) and Cabernet Franc, matured for a year in French and American oak casks. The colour shows only moderate depth; the bouquet is green-edged; the flavours lack warmth and concentration. There is no 1997, and the 1998 is a Merlot-predominant blend (see that section).
