Longview Estate Mario's Merlot

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2000 Vintage) says
Drinking well now, the 2000 vintage was estate-grown just south of Whangarei, in Northland, and French oak-aged for 15 months. It's a vibrantly fruity and supple wine with very good depth of plum, red berry and green leaf flavours, integrated spicy oak and well-balanced tannins.

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
Smooth, ripe and flavoursome, with considerable complexity, the 1998 vintage of this Northland red was matured for 14 months in French and American oak casks. The perfumed bouquet leads into a satisfyingly full-bodied wine with cassis and nutty oak flavours, now developing some rich, savoury characters.
