Loose Leaf Cabernet Merlot

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

It's possible Loose Leaf refers to a character that is found in Western Australian cabernet, so the name is quite apt. It's made by the good people at Forester Estate, and shows not only loose leaves, but fleshy plums, choc-mint and black currants in the mix. The palate is fuller-bodied and quite lush, with the plums and earthiness punching through supported by talcy tannins, and a fruity finish with a touch of mint in the tail.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour - Medium to deep red with red hue.

Aroma - Medium intensity with complex aromas of earth, cocoa and leather. Ripe plum, cassis and red berries are lifted with floral lavender like perfume. The aromas are rounded out with savoury oak and dried leaf characters.

Palate - The full and firm palate has silky tannins. Red berries, cassis and boysenberry fruit are supported by more complex notes of dusty sweet earth and bay leaf.

Food Pairing - Roast rack of lamb
