Luis Pato Vinha Barrosa Baga Tinto

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This is the 'butch' to the Pan Baga's 'bitch' - in other words, it's got a bit more masculine in it's style. There's plenty of dark fruits on the nose with hints of mint, spice and earthiness. The palate is dense and fuller-bodied, with a dark cherry centre, some grip to the tannins, bright acidity, and a long, savoury-edged finish. It needs time or meat!

Winemaker's Notes

One of the best ‘makers of the region Luis has been at war with the D.O. of Bairrada and most of its producers for years ... he is embarrassed to be lumped in with the other spotty Bairrada wines. Bairrada may or may not be on his labels; some wines are de- classified to a country wine appellation ‘Vino Regional Beiras’.

‘Barrosa’ is off 80 y.o. clay-based vines and more Bordeaux-masculine. Will age wonderfully.
