James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Vivid purple; this long-established iconic cabernet shiraz blend has hit the jackpot this vintage, with lush juicy blackcurrant, mulberry and blackberry fruit set in a wreath of ripe tannins and quality oak.

Mike Bennie (2010 Vintage) says
All the highlights of Coonawarra and that 'classic Australian blend' with blue fruit, mint, eucalyptus, earthiness showing and even with a warmth through the region, a cool reserve and svelte feel. Very seamless expression here, worthy for collectors and the cellar.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Bright red-purple; as usual, a blend of cabernet sauvignon and shiraz that has an expressive fruit bouquet, the layered palate ranging through plum, blackberry and blackcurrant with an undertone of Coonawarra mint, the tannins fine and ripe, oak doing its job well.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Excellent deep crimson; has quite spectacular depth and length to its succulent array of blackberry, blackcurrant and redcurrant fruit, so much so it is easy to miss the fine-grained tannins and quality oak embedded in the wine. Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Bright colour, very good hue; a delicious wine, has thrust and vitality to the range of red and black fruits on both bouquet and palate, the two varieties weld seamlessly together, and with the oak.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
The finest and most elegant of the Majella wines with lower alcohol, though this is partly a function of the season. Undoubtedly a wine for the purist; watch for the '05.

Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
An oaky but finely crafted cabernet shiraz blend whose deep, dark, iodide-like aromas of cassis, blackberries and cedar reveal spicy, slightly meaty and leathery undertones. Its spicy, peppery palate is full to medium in weight, delivering an assertively oaked but intensely fruited expression of searingly intense and juicy flavour. It culminates in a restrained and finely crafted finish.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
A potent, intense wine with black fruit aromas, and some spice; very good structure; persistent but integrated and fine tannins.

Good colour; classic restraint; blackcurrant, blackberry, earth and spice; very good texture and structure; cedary French oak.

James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
Deep purple-red; abundant sweet berry fruit and high-quality oak swirl from the glass, the palate with equally generous cassis and blackberry fruit supported by balanced oak and tannins. As always, a wine of the highest quality. Gold medal winner 2002 National Wine Show.

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Dense red-purple; very rich, dense, concentrated and voluptuous fruit with distinctive chocolate aromas is followed by a palate which out-Riddochs John Riddoch in terms of its concentration and opulence. Custom demands top points

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Dense red-purple; the bouquet is powerful, ripe and concentrated, with masses of blackcurrant fruit and well-balanced oak. The palate is firmer than the bouquet suggests, with bright cassis and plum fruit, fine tannins and subtle oak. A dyed-in-the-wool stayer

James Halliday (1996 Vintage) says
Dense red-purple; ripe, rich dark berry fruit aromas, with hints of chocolate and of excellent concentration lead into a palate with classic Coonawarra flavours; dark cherry, blackberry, mulberry and cassis. The oak has not been overdone, and the wine has quite marvellous length.
