Man O' War Gravestone Semillon Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Situated on the beautiful Waiheke Island, this is a truly martime-influenced wine. It's a bright, fresh, tropical style of wine that has a touch of oak in the mix, and shows aromas of gooseberries, lychees and balckcurrants on the nose. The palate is poised and racy, with guava and citrus flavours, a talcy texture, frisky acidity, and a long, lingering finish. This would be great with a prawn curry.

Winemaker's Notes

Classic Sémillon characters of chalk dust and fresh herbs with complex fennel bulb characters from the wild Sauvignon. The palate is focused and structured with tense acidity and ripe fruit tannins giving persistence and clarity.

Man O' War Gravestone Semillon Sauvignon Blanc

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
A very distinctive green-tinged nose, with some complex oak and solids-derived complexity, this takes sauvignon blanc and semillon and tips its hat in the direction of the entre-deux-mers in Bordeaux. A nice, spritely palate, herbs, gooseberries and citrus, nettles and great acid punch; gentle oak texture too. Gravelly, fresh finish.
