Margan White Label Shiraz

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2011 Vintage) says
A charming medium to full-bodied new-fashioned Hunter shiraz unfolding a deep, heady bouwuet of sweet floral and spicy red and black berries, blood plums and dusty, cedary oak. It's refined and elegant, long and complete, with brightly lit flavours of redcurrants, red cherries, blood plums and blackberries underpinned by a dusty, powdery spine and finishing with elegance, a faint sappines and a soft acidity.

An excellent Hunter vintage, producing a wine of poise, elegance, completeness and longevity. Bright plum fruit, spicy dark berries, pepper and earth are laced together with delightfully silky, fine and textural tannins which weave through a long, bright finish of poise and finesse. www.margan.com.au

Jeremy Oliver (2009 Vintage) says
Elegant and complex, with a smoky, lightly herbal and reductive bouquet of redcurrants, red plums and sweet cedar/vanilla oak backed by suggestions of cloves and cinnamon. Medium in weight, it's forward and sweetly fruited, but delivers a fine-grained presence of suppleness and flavour. It finishes with fresh acids and lingering briary/redcurrant fruit, but is just a fraction cooked and jammy for a higher rating.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Deep purple-red; great example of the depth of flavour that the Hunter Valley can achieve with restrained alcohol; plum, blackberry and mocha flavours to a plushly textured palate; excellent oak and tannin balance.

Strong colour; abundant black fruits ranging through blackberry, prune and plum; earthy regional characters lurk underneath, and will develop with time

Extremely powerful black fruits; masses of flavour; heroically built for the long haul.
