Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2006 Vintage) says
This is made by Simon Clayfield of Clayfield Wines fame. The Thomas Wills in the title is the 'inventor' of Australian Rules football - the Clayfield Winery is within kicking distance of the ground at Moyston, where it all apparently took place. It's a bit gamey and smelly, but there's a lot of rich, ripe fruit here too. It's peppery, plummy and smooth, with an excellent strike of sweet-savoury flavour hitting and running through your mouth. It seems to fade through the finish, probably due to those gamey notes, hence the reduced rating.
