Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
The 2000 vintage an unblended Cabernet Sauvignon, was grown in Gimblett Road, matured for a year in seasoned oak casks and then aged for a further eight months in new French oak barriques. Dark, it's a highly concentrated wine with blackcurrant, plum and mint flavours, cedary, nutty oak adding complexity and a firm tannin grip. A worthy effort from a difficult year, the 2001 is deeply coloured, with a fragrant bouquet of herbs and nuts. It's a weighty wine, slightly high in acidity, with very good depth of blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, quality oak and tight tannins. Open 2005+.

The 2000 vintage, an unblended Cabernet Sauvignon, was grown in Gimblett Road, matured for a year in seasoned oak casks and then aged for a further eight months in new French oak barriques. Rich and youthful in colour, it's an intensely varietal, impressively concentrated wine with blackcurrant and mint flavours, cedary, nutty oak adding complexity and a firm tannin grip. Drink 2004 onwards. (At the time of writing, the wine was still unreleased and its price had yet to be confirmed.)
