Matua Valley Innovator Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
Deeply coloured for a Pinot Noir, the 2003 vintage was grown in Marlborough and matured for a year in French oak casks (one-third new). Crammed with plum, cherry and spice flavours, coated with toasty oak, it's a real fruit bomb in its youth. Fresh and vibrant, it shows plenty of potential; open mid-2005+.

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
The 1998 vintage grown in the Petrie vineyard at Masterton, in the Wairarapa, was made "to provide a benchmark for what we want to do in Marlborough, where we have big plantings," says winemaker Mark Robertson. The colour is full; the palate fresh, tight and savoury, with deep raspberry/spice flavours, firm tannins and a sustained finish. It should age really well.
