Maximus Premium Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This is quite a full-bodied boy from Maximus that shows fruit as big and bold as Russell Crowe's biceps. Dark cherries and berries run around the nose hairs, along with hints of coconut and coffee. The palate is juicy and fullsome with surprisingly friendly tannins, licks of toast and chocolate, and a lush finish. It will kick on over the next couple of years, but why wait.

Winemaker's Notes

Made with gentle winemaking techniques including the use of open fermenters and basket pressing. The wine, which was aged for 16 months in 1 - 2 year old French and American oak hogsheads, has a soft nose that develops into an underlying richness with hints of mocha. The palate says it all; big but subtle fruit fills the palate. The wine was lightly egg fined prior to bottling.

Lifted, earthy red fruits. Solid and well rounded in the mouth, with fleshy, red/black fruit flavours.
