McPherson Basilisk Tempranillo

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This little puppy has been made in what the Spanish call a 'crianza' style, which basically means it's seen about 12-months in oak. It's certainly a more 'butch' style at 13.5% alcohol, but it is juicy and smooth with choc-cherry and soft spice flavours, mellow tannins, a lick of toasty oak, and a decent, succulent finish that will see it match well with beef sausages and mash.

Winemaker's Notes

Basilisk Tempranillo is a medium bodied wine, which is inky in colour and beautifully structured. The nose offers an array or interest from black olives to leather to a hint of tobacco. Dark fruits complete the overall nose which is complexed by a hint of spice. The tempting black cherries and plums, along with subtle oak and savoury tannins contribute to a lengthy palate with chalky tannins and long acidity. A wonderfully complete wine that is best enjoyed with food.

Tempranillo is a lovely food wine with great length and acidity, therefore enjoy it with traditional Spanish tapas, spicy Italian pizza or a traditional roast dinner.

Alcohol: 13.5%
