McPherson Family Series Cabernet Rose

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

It's more of an off-dry style of Rose, with smells of brambly berries and raspberries on the nose, with hints of pepper spice, mint and musk sticks. The palate is more medium-bodied for a Rose, with a hit of sweetness upfront, then red berry flavours tumble over the tongue in company with gentle tannins leading to a smooth, fruity finish. Excellent value!

Winemaker's Notes

Fruit for the Rose was harvested from our vineyards during March 2014. The juice was run off the skins early, in order to extract only the perfect amount of colour and then inoculated and fermented cool.

A fresh and lively wine, the 2014 McPherson Rose is vibrant fuchsia in colour with a lovely perfumed nose of raspberries and strawberries. The fruit intensity on the palate is evident, with underlying hints of musk and mint completing the wine.

With excellent length of flavour, not only is the Rose fun and easy to drink, it also compliments a vast array of dishes. Try it with spicy Thai noodles, as an aperitif with antipasto, or simply serve very cold on a hot summer’s afternoon.

Tyson Stelzer (2009 Vintage) says
Half the rosés in my list this month are over $20 - a disturbing trend, and the reason that wines like this one are so important. The ten buck rosé market is booming, and this perfumed style slots in neatly with its raspberry and strawberry fruit and well-gauged lick of sweetness on the end.

This Nagambie Lakes winery has produced a pleasant redcurrant and red cherry-flavoured rose that is nicely filled out on the mid-palate by sweetness, finishing clean, zingy and sweet.

Red fruit aromas with a hint of spice; clean and well-made, but still well worth the price.

This is a soft, round and easy-drinking style that is sweet without being overwhelmingly so. There's strawberry and raspberry fruit pastille with a hint of musk stick.
