McWilliam's Hanwood Estate Aged Tawny

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

One mouthful of this extraordinary tawny from McWilliams will have you thinking of Christmas. Smells of mince pies, Xmas pudding and leather couches waft out of the glass and onto the warm, cuddly palate. The mouthfeel os soft, smooth and sweet, with mellow tannins, and a sumptuous, rich finish. Excellent with coffee and a slice of that Christmas cake after the turkey.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Deep Amber Brown.

Nose: Intense rancio, vanilla oak characters showing the refinement of a true barrel aged tawny port.

Palate: Incredible rich liqueur raisin characters distinctive of a Christmas fruit cake. With an exceptional round mid palate and fine tannins, with a lusciousness that lingers on and on long after consumption.

Cellaring: Best consumed within 5 years to retain rancio freshness.

Alcohol: 18.5%

Complex and intense; nutty, biscuity flavours, with obvious rancio; a long, lingering finish and aftertaste.
