Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Quartz-green when five years old; festooned with gold medals, the wine is undoubtedly superb, coming as it does from a good vintage and a very great vineyard. The interesting part is the CO2 prickle that underwrites the longer term future of an already beautiful lemon and mineral-accented wine.
James Halliday's Top 100 wines of 2012
Tyson Stelzer (2007 Vintage) says
Lovedale is one of the great single vineyard semillons of the world, and its pedigree and sheer magnificence only emerge after some years in bottle. 2007 is a grand rendition, maturing ever so slowly, still retaining its pale straw-green hue. Primary cut grass and youthful lemon and lime zest are the themes here, upholding great energy and impressive drive of lemony acidity. Gentle Lovedale mineral texture hovers on a finish of suspended poise. Patience.

Tyson Stelzer (2005 Vintage) says
It is a marvellous thing indeed when a great vintage of Lovedale enters its second life, shedding citrus zest and white peach for glorious toasty notes. Some years ahead of it yet.

Rob Geddes MW (2001 Vintage) says
The transformation into honey and lime with a generously luxuriant texture but without the loss of inherent delicacy is extraordinary.
