Meerea Park Shiraz Viognier

Cracka Review

Colour: Dark crimson in colour, the nose has the dark fruit spectrum characters we were expecting from 2007.

Palate: There is no real effect on the nose from the viognier, but it reveals itself in a restrained manner on the palate where it is in harmony with the blackberry fruit, where there is also a slight hint of liquorice. Tannins are ripe and silky.

Meerea Park Shiraz Viognier

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2007 Vintage) says
Bright purple in the glass - looks fresh, bright and well made. Mixed ripe berries, some dark toasted spices and a gentle, earthy side below. The palate has a smart drive through the entry and fleshes out in the middle before building some drying tannin through the back. Crisp, elegant and compact finish.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
The 5% viognier component was co-fermented with the shiraz, but I remain to be convinced that Hunter Valley shiraz (in common with other warm areas) is enhanced by viognier. A pleasant wine, but no more.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Typical vivid colour; a medium-bodied, fruit-driven wine with soft, almost silky, red fruits and viognier lift; minimal tannin and oak inputs.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Light- to medium-bodied; distinctly tangy, though not dense, aromas and flavours; tannins and oak (none new) well controlled; 6% Viognier.
