Merum Estate Curious Nature Wondrous White

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Yet another quirky label from Merum Estate will indeed make you curious, mainly as to what a mermaid in period costume with a glass of wine means! However, the contents of the bottle is what matters. Scents of citrus, nectorines, pears and ginger waft seductively out of the glass, whilst the palate is zesty and zingy, yet also savoury with a tropical centre leading to a crisp, decent finish. It is intriguing and highly glugable, and very good value to boot.

Winemaker's Notes

This captivating white blend exhibits sublime aromas of lemon, stone fruit and spice with hints of pear and snow pea. Irresistible flavours of zesty citrus infuse harmoniously with juicy stone fruits and tropical melon, leading to a long vibrant finish.

Semillon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier.

Ray Jordan (2010 Vintage) says
This blend of a number of white varieties is striking its best drinking zone. Stone fruit characters on the nose with some spicy citrus influence. The palate still has a light zesty character with plenty of fruit intensity. Great current drinking.

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
A blend of Semillon, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and viognier, a modern interpretation of classic dry white; I havenÕt the faintest idea how this blend could be as synergistic as it is. All in all, has far more personality than the vast majority of these shotgun blends. Still very crisp and fresh.
