Michel Magnien Marsannay Morgottes
If you like alliteration you’ll love this wine, it’s full of M words in the title and here’s another M word to describe how it tastes - marvellous. Marsannay is in Burgundy’s Cote De Nuit and famed for making wines in a more feminine mould. Attractive Pinot Characters on the nose that are heightened in berry aromas and some earthy notes. As is the way with top Burgundy, there’s exceptional structure and balance at play making for a wine of intensity and multi-layered depth. The only way to heighten the experience would be to serve it with barbecued duck.
An approachable and expressive wine that shows a more feminine side to Burgundy – relying on style and charm rather than brute force. The nose is attractive, almost pretty, with bright red berried fruit and leafy undergrowth. The palate is highlighted by balance and texture – supple and fresh flavours with a relaxed intensity and length. Vibrant acidity ensures a refreshing finish.
