Last year we called it the forgotten wine brand and not much has changed. But gosh, the wines can be good. Made by that man again - Andrew Hales. Matured in both French and American oak. Beautifully made cabernet-shiraz blend. Another example of how good this blend is. Tastes of plums and blackcurrant and dust-like notes. Gorgeous cedary, smoky, slipperysmooth oak. Texture to die for. Lovely length and grip. Perfect red-wine drinking. No brainer if you enjoy a ripe, Aussie red.

Campbell Mattinson (2004 Vintage) says
I suspect that this has been caught up in the lack of attention to the Mildara brand, hence 2004 is (I'm told) the current release. Nothing wrong with the wine. 2004 RELEASE Soft, earthy aromatics, plummy and spicy and minty. Beautiful velvety wine, medium bodied but gorgeous through the mouth. Tannins are unobtrusive but manage to keep the wine honest. Line and length here. It builds beautifully as it sits in the glass. Finishes with a flush of spiced mulberry-like flavours. More or less 60/40 cabernet shiraz. Excellent drinking. DRINK 2008-2015.
