Millton Vine, The, Chardonnay Barrel Ferm.

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1996 Vintage) says
This is Millton's best-known Gisborne Chardonnay, typically a fat, full-flavoured wine, hand-picked and French oak-fermented, with good depth and a buttery-soft, lingering finish. The '95 is oatmealy and complex, a less lushty fruity style than usual with a malolactic fermentation-derived roundness and butteriness. The 1996 vintage is one of the best yet. Fermented in oak barrels (15 per cent new), it has a rather Burgundian richness, mealiness and roundness, with very impressive flavour depth. light gold, with a peachy, toasty fragance, it is a fat, savoury, complex wine with a tight finish, offering deeply satisfying drinking from now onwards.
