Rampantly botrytised Gisborne Chenin Blanc, 80 per cent barrel-fermented, in 1994 yielded a stunning, deep-amber beauty with intense, sweet, apricot-like aromas and flavours. The striking depth of honey-sweet flavour is interwoven with steely, authoritative acidity. An expensive but classy wine, with a long fife ahead.
