Mission Estate Winery Reserve Hawke's Bay Merlot

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2008 Vintage) says
The deliciously easy-drinking 2008 vintage has 'Reserve' only on the back label. A blend of Merlot (85 per cent), grown at Bridge Pa, and Cabernet Franc (15 per cent), from the Gimblett Gravels, it was matured in French oak barriques (35 per cent new). Deeply coloured, it is generous and silky, with strong, ripe blackcurrant, spice and nut flavours, showing good complexity. It's already highly enjoyable.

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
Grown in Central Hawke's Bay and matured in French oak casks (40 per cent new), the 2002 vintage has full colour, showing some development. Mouthfilling, with brambly, spicy, slightly herbal flavours showing good depth, it's ready for drinking.
