They say it takes a lot of beer to make great wine over harvest, but what's often overlooked is how much Campari or Negronis are drunk in the off season. Fantastic then to get a cherry-meets-amaro-bitter feel in a rose - so bright and refreshing, genial bitterness and finishing dry. Good times.

Light puce; early-picked pinot has been blended with sangiovese to make a very interesting rose, with strawberry, rose petals and red cherry intertwined on the palate, which is uncompromisingly dry and crisp on the finish.

This is actually a blend of Pyrenees and Macedon Ranges fruit, and made of sangiovese and early harvest pinot noir respectively. The colour s a pale reddish-pink in the glass and the fragrance is really charming _ plenty of red cherry fruit here, and a strawberry thread too. The palate s smooth and supple with a crisp, tangy edge, berries and leafy notes, nice and dry, a little weight and grip. Overall a really nicely savoury style.
